Peg + Cat Spotlighted in Math & Science Collaborative Journal

The National Science Foundation has awarded a three-year grant to The Fred Rogers Company (TFRC) to produce additional episodes of Peg + Cat, an Emmy award winning animated math adventure series, along with related online games and apps.The show aims to help young children begin to learn age-appropriate math concepts and develop a positive, resilient attitude toward learning. The grant also supports the development of early mathematics professional development (PD) for Head Start teachers including a family engagement component, and associated research. Mallary Swartz of TFRC is the Principal Investigator of this three million dollar project. The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is home of two other key partners in ELM2: The Math & Science Collaborative (MSC) and the Allegheny County Head Start program (HS).
