Only in its first season The Fred Rogers Company's animated series ‘Peg + Cat’ has already won three Emmy Awards, including “Outstanding Pre-School Children’s Animated Program, ” “Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program” and “Outstanding Individual Achievement in Production Design.”

Peg + Cat, the new animated PBS KIDS math series from The Fred Rogers Company on PBS KIDS, earned a trio of top awards, including “Outstanding Pre-School Children’s Animated Program” at the 41st Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which took place Friday night, June 20, in Los Angeles. The popular program also was honored with Emmys for “Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program” and “Outstanding Individual Achievement in Production Design.”

Co-created and executive produced by Jennifer Oxley (Little BillThe Wonder Pets!) and Billy Aronson (RentPostcards from Buster), Peg + Cat is produced by The Fred Rogers Company for PBS KIDS. Kevin Morrison of The Fred Rogers Company and Vince Commisso of production partner 9 Story Entertainment also serve as executive producers. 9 Story distributes the series internationally.

“We’re delighted that the Emmy Awards committee has recognized Peg + Cat as an exceptional series with much to offer for today’s preschoolers and families,” said Paul Siefken, Vice President, Broadcast and Digital Media, The Fred Rogers Company. “This trio of Emmy wins is a wonderful and much deserved acknowledgement of the talent and dedication of our partners, including Jennifer Oxley and Billy Aronson as well as 9 Story Entertainment, whose creative vision helped bring Peg + Cat to life for viewers everywhere.”

Series Co-Creator Jennifer Oxley took home the award for “Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for Production Design,” while Hayley Faith Negrin, the voice of Peg, was honored with “Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Program.” The 11-year-old Negrin was the youngest nominee at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards.

Peg + Cat follows the adorable, spirited Peg and her loyal sidekick Cat, as they embark on a host of hilarious, musical adventures, learning foundational math concepts along the way. Each episode features engaging stories in which Peg and Cat encounter a problem that requires them to use math and problem solving skills in order to move forward. The series provides young viewers with a new way to experience math and highlights its importance in a variety of everyday situations. Life skills such as cooperation are also core components of the series, as Peg and her friends have to work together to solve problems – and since Peg doesn’t always get it right the first time, viewers get to see the value of experimentation and learning from mistakes. Music is used as a teaching tool throughout the series and each episode features an original song.
