Happy Birthday, Daniel Tiger

Even though he's known as a four-year-old on Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Daniel Tiger's lineage began 62 years ago this month when Mister Rogers first created him in April 1954 for a Pittsburgh public television show called The Children's Corner. Fred Rogers named his first puppet after WQED's Station Manager Dorothy Daniel and the show was among the first to air on the new station. Here is a video clip when host Josie Carey introduced us to her shy friend who lives in a clock, Daniel Tiger.

Today, The Fred Rogers Company strives to continue the legacy our founder began. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is entering its third season on PBS KIDS and the show has the distinction of being the network's most popular streamed video with episodes eclipsing 500 million streams in the last 12 months.
