Junlei Li Joins The Fred Rogers Company Family
Fred Rogers could connect with children so well in part because of the way he married the science of child development with the immediacy of children's media. Junlei Li, the newest member of The Fred Rogers Company family, is similarly committed to using media to help make science more visible and useful for parents, teachers, and other adults who work with children.
After studying computer science as an undergraduate, Junlei earned a master's degree in instructional science and a Ph.D. in psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, making important contributions to science education in urban classrooms. He then joined the University of Pittsburgh Office of Child Development (OCD), evaluating and improving the quality of community-based programs serving youth and families in Pittsburgh and orphanages abroad.
In his first project with The Fred Rogers Company, Dr. Li is helping caregivers in Chinese orphanages develop and use a video-based self-assessment and quality improvement tool to improve their care for young children with disabilities. He is also developing similar projects to enhance positive adult-child interactions with partners here in Pittsburgh.
