Angry outbursts, lack of self-control, and aggressive behaviors are increasing among preschoolers; it’s critical that providers be trained to deal with this growing problem. The Challenging Behaviors Initiative trains your trainers so they can in turn give providers the tools to understand and help change the behaviors of young children.
The Initiative offers your trainers not only comprehensive materials, but direct access to the master trainers of Mister Rogers Professional Development. Extensive ongoing support provides continuing opportunities to share experiences, raise issues, and have questions answered. |

The Initiative teaches your trainers how to make best use of our highly effective workshops on helping young children manage difficult feelings:
These workshops receive enthusiastic reviews from attendees. A research study that evaluated Mad Feelings and Challenging Behaviors, the workshops that have been available the longest, found that:
- The workshops were consistently described by aides, teachers and directors as high quality and well targeted to their needs. Organization, prepared facilitators, well-chosen video clips of real settings, a mix of active and reflective exercises and substantive take-home materials were cited as indicators of quality. Several participants spontaneously commented that the training was the best they had ever attended.
- These powerful tools can make a major difference—and The Challenging Behaviors Initiative ensures that your trainers will use them most effectively. The result will be that educators and providers will learn to help young children manage anger, control behaviors, and build the discipline they will need all their lives.
- The project cost will vary depending on the number of trainers and attendees of local workshops. Please contact Family Communications staff to discuss the variety of options and the needs of your community.
